It is not out of the ordinary for any computer user to delete recent documents in word format. This is because you will surely accumulate a lot of files over time, and there will definitely be files you no longer need to retain in your system. Thus, you would then delete these files from your computer. However, you have to be very careful with this step.

Do you just delete your files by hitting the delete button? It is actually recommended to do more than that. You see, merely hitting the delete button would just send your files to your Recycle Bin. Once these are in the Recycle Bin, you would then have to empty this out, to get rid of the files. A lot of people think doing these steps is more than enough to process secure deletion of their files. There is a problem here, however. Yes, you can no longer see the physical icons representing your files in the folders they used to belong to. However, you have to understand that these files once occupied certain memory space in your computer. And this memory space is still in existence, up until this space would be overwritten by the creation of new files. Until such time, the files are at risk of infiltration by the many hackers all over the web.

You might think that no hacker would be interested in hacking your files at all. This is not true because hacking can happen to any person at any given time. Thus, you still have to be doubly careful, even if your files do not contain any sensitive or confidential information. Hacking is still a violation of your privacy, and you have to protect this as much as possible.

One effective way of protecting your right to Internet privacy is by installing certain applications in your computer. These programs include disk wipers and file shredders. Remember how the memory space has to be overwritten by the creation of files, to get rid of the deleted files effectively? This is the premise brought about by the technology of disk wipers. The only difference is there are no new files created at all. What happens is the mere overwriting of the memory space. Your files are then effectively deleted.

Meanwhile, file shredders work pretty much like the typical paper shredder you see in any office. Paper shredders physically shred any piece of paper inserted into the equipment. File shredders, on the other hand, digitally shred deleted files beyond recognition. This way, hackers would have a difficult time piecing together the shredded pieces of any file they are interested in.

Just choose either one of these applications, for they serve the same purpose. The key to choosing which particular application to go with pertains to the features of the software that would serve your needs the most. Once you have your application installed, you no longer have to worry every time you delete recent documents in word format. You are now assured of secure deletion, free from the risks of Internet privacy violation.
