This has to do with what we talked about. People want information, and they want it fast.

However, if they want to get the book as a hardback, then they are going to have to order it (which takes time) or go out to the store and get it (which also takes time). Getting this information online right away is something that people are willing to pay for. People are willing to pay for quality information, sure you can distribute your ebook for free (specially for viral marketing purpose) but keep in mind that you can also make money by selling your ebooks.
