I’m sure if you’re in your late teens and you’re about to enter college or you’re in high school, I’m sure you’ve heard the credit cards are awful and you should stay away from them. Its funny how we tend to listen to people that generally don’t know what they are talking about and today I’m going to rant a little bit on why you should give credit cards a shot and how you should use them properly. If you simply follow my guidelines, you will think credit cards are the best things ever.

I guarantee that anytime you hear that credit cards are bad, you’re hearing it from some guy or gal that doesn’t know how to manage their money properly. This is probably coming out of the mouth of someone that spends and spends without knowing how much they have spent. Then, when the credit card bill comes in the mail, they have that shocked look at their face wondering how they are going to pay it!? Oh, boo hoo, we should all feel sorry about you because you can’t keep track of your expenses.

When it comes to society, people generally think that the rest of America thinks like them. So, when they go into debt, they want to tell everyone else to stay away from credit cards because they can’t use them properly. Well, I’m sorry to say but the beautiful thing about this life is that we’re all different, that’s what I think keeps us sane on this planet. Could you imagine if everyone was the same and thought credit cards were bad? No one would have one and this world would just stink.

Credit cards are a wonderful tool you can really take advantage of. From getting cash back on all of your purchases to saving at the gas pump, you can really take advantage of these cards. There are two simple steps that you need to follow and if you can follow these steps, you will be using credit cards in your favor.

Know your limits – This is so simple, it’s stupid. Don’t spend more than what you can afford. Make sure that you treat your card as if it’s money (which it is). If it helps, write down all of your purchases on a piece of paper so that you can keep track of them. If you can do this, you’re already on the right step.

Pay off in time – This is the most important step that you need to take advantage of. When it comes to your credit card bill, make sure that you pay your bill off in full each month. If you can accomplish this, you’ll be getting an interest free loan for a month. A credit card company will never charge you interest if you pay the card off in full.

Believe It or not, these are the two rules you need to remember in order to take advantage of the credit companies. Now, that wasn’t so hard, was it? People love to give things a bad name and it’s only because they don’t have the discipline to use a card right.
