Despite what you may think, having a decent hair care regimen does not have to cost you thousands of dollars each year. In fact, there are several hair care tips and tricks that the pros use that do not cost much money, if any at all. From daily activities to things you only need to do every once in awhile, there are many ways to tweak your hair care techniques to give you a healthier head of hair.

To start, you need to remember that good hair care starts at the root. This means that you need to keep an eye on what you are eating and drinking. Activities like smoking and doing drugs will do nothing but bad things for your hair. If you drink like a fish and smoke three packs of cigarettes a day, there is no amount of deep conditioning that will make your hair look as good as it could.

On the free side of the hair care aisle, there are plenty of things that you can do to improve the overall look of your hair without having to spend a penny. To start, always brush your hair before you shampoo it. Although it may not seem like it would make a difference, when you brush your hair before you wash it, you remove any built up hair care products and enable your shampoo to thoroughly clean your hair.

Another great way to add a little something extra to your daily hair care routine is to massage your scalp as you shampoo your hair. When you massage your scalp, you stimulate that part of your body and increase the blood flow to that area. With the better blood circulation, your hair will start growing in healthier from the root. Although it may take quite a bit of time, the healthier roots will eventually turn into healthier tips.

With all that said, no matter how effectively you stick to the hair care tips outlined above, no amount of scalp massaging or squeaky clean hair can stand up to harsh and hot styling tools. Everything from curling irons to blow dryers can seriously damage your hair in a way that is irreparable. To really have an effective hair care regimen, you should avoid heat damage as much as possible, you will be happy you did. After all, an ounce of hair care damage prevention is worth a pound of hair care cure.
