When you met your spouse you probably felt an immediately spark that just wouldn't die down. You could probably spend hours at a time in one another's presence and yet that still wasn't enough. If these are all distant memories they needn't be.

You can enjoy your spouse as much 30 years after marriage as you did 30 days after meeting them, you may just have to work at it a little bit, the great thing is that it doesn't have to feel like work!

The biggest mistake that we make when we get married is we stop being romantic. A lot of people feel like their work is done when they have gotten married, that they don't need to try any more. This could not be further from the truth! When you get married it is more important than ever to continue to be romantic, sending cards, flowers, and balloons and this sort of thing will allow your spouse to know that through the years you still value them and love them as much as ever.

A lot of what makes us want each other so much when we first start dating is that we aren't together all the time. Absence makes the heart grow fonder they say, so don't be afraid to indulge in separate activities from time to time, as you will find that this will have you wanting to be with one another more than ever.

This doesnt mean that you shouldn't spend time together, it just means that you shouldn't be afraid to do things separate of one another either, as this can actually make your time together more enjoyable.

Continue to make time for one another. It is easy when you get married to get caught up in the day to day things that come up and forget that you really need to set aside time for the two of you.

This could be dinner together, a movie, or just sitting together each night and talking and enjoying the company of one another. While you spend a lot of time together when you are married, you need to be sure that a fraction of that time is time that is spent together is specifically set aside for the two of you.

Make sure that you continue to make your spouse feel good about themselves. It is easy to complain about what is or is not done when you are married, forgetting that you are supposed to be building one another up.

When you have a spouse that is confident in themselves they will be a lot more fun to be around and they will help to build you up when you need it, too. Let your spouse know how smart and attractive you think they are, this will go a long way in keeping the spark alive between the two of you!
