When it comes to watches, there are more types of watches than just the wristwatch. The watch case, movement and face is a versatile little mechanism that is self contained and it can be placed in different types of jewelry. Depending on the occasion, you can find novelty, casual, teen, formal and office styles of accessory watches to match perfectly.

Accessory watches are just like other watch categories meaning that you can find a wide range of materials used in the construction of accessory watches. Besides the usual materials used for watches (precious metals, jewels, stainless steel, plastic, rubber) watches may make use of materials such as stone, ceramic and leather in their construction.

This makes it possible for you to choose from a variety of items that will match your budget. Accessory watches can be comical, serious, unique, elegant, licensed, casual or formal.

The bangle watch is similar to the wrist watch because it is worn on the wrist. The difference is that the bangle watch has a set size, hard circular shape and it slips over the hand to the wrist unlike the wristwatch, which is fastened to fit closely to the wrist. The bangle watch can be worn with other bangles to create a fashion look.

Pocket watches are meant to be worn on the pocket. There may be a chain connected to the watch which may be connected to a vest buttonhole or belt loop. The pocketwatch is generally has a circular face. The pocketwatch was first popularized in the early 1900s when the Elgin Watch Company standardized the watch movements so that railroad workers could depend on the pocketwatch's accuracy at keeping time.

The pendant watch is similar to the pocketwatch. The pendant watch was considered the feminine equivalent of the pocketwatch, even though women carry pocketwatches, too. The pendant watch can be as ornate or as simple as desired.

The watch ring has a miniature watch case and workings that will fit perfectly onto a ring form. The watch may have lid which can be opened to reveal the watch. The lid acts to protect the watch face as well. The watch ring can be fashioned just like any other ring with jewels and precious metals.

The keyring watch is the watch accessory that is perfect for someone who does not like wearing jewelry but enjoys the convenience of carrying a watch. When the watch is combined with a keyring, it makes a sensible choice of accessory for many watch enthusiasts. The keyring watch may be made from rubber, plastic, acrylic, leather, stainless steel or any other type of material that is used to construct the keyring.

When you keep your eyes open for unusual watches, you will be able to spot high quality accessory watches that may change your mind about your next wristwatch. Whatever your taste, budget or preferences are, you can find an accessory watch that will suit you and your wardrobe. Accessory watches are great for both function and form.
